Description
Self-regulating heaters are built on the basis of a PTC thermistor. A characteristic feature of PTC heaters is their variable (self-regulating) resistance depending on the heat absorption (operating temperature). The better the heat absorption from the surface of the heater, the higher power the element will achieve. In the case of low heat absorption from the surface of the heater, the heating element will operate at minimal power. PTC heaters are most commonly used in evaporation tanks/trays for condensate in refrigeration devices. The maximum power of the heater is achieved in water with a temperature close to 0°C. Then, the power drops to about 80-90% of the maximum power when submerged in water with a temperature close to 90-100°C - reaching nominal power. After the condensate has evaporated, when the heater operates without contact with water (in air), the element draws about 10% of the maximum power. Since the resistance of the heater changes smoothly, the above percentage data is indicative. The offered heater does not require installation in the wall of the tank/tray and is designed to be freely placed on the bottom. The hexagonal heads prevent the heater from moving and insulate the bottom of the tank from the heater's jacket (heating part). Self-regulating heating elements with metal heads are designed for use in both metal and plastic tanks. Upon special request, hexagonal heads can be made of metal.
